A Review of Inside Out (2015)

“Do you ever look at someone and wonder, “What is going on inside their head?” Well, I know.”

Emotions control a person from the inside, causing them to feel certain ways at times.

It’s almost like Star Trek, where the crew are the emotions and the ship is the person.

This film is very relatable, as we all feel different things at key moments in our lives. This entire movie is a metaphor for what occurs inside peoples heads. Real science is applied in colourful creative ways, providing the basis for the movie. It’s funny and charming and it is of course emotional.

The ‘Lava’ short film that plays before Inside Out is not Pixar’s best but still good. Inside Out is Pixar’s best since Toy Story 3 which released five years ago. For reference, they then made Cars 2, Brave and Monsters University. I didn’t find those to be very entertaining as an adult but Inside Out is truly Pixar back on track. I eagerly await Finding Dory and The Incredibles sequel.

This is a vibrant, ingenious film for children to learn valuable lessons about life and growing up. Anyone can enjoy watching this film however, and relate to it’s characters.

Overall Rating: 8.0/10
