A Review of Charlie Countryman (2013)

“Maybe you have some kind of fantasy about helping a woman in a faraway land”

Starring Shia Just-Do-It LaBeouf.

Charlie Countryman is an American goes to Romania and falls in love with a gangster’s wife.

The story is self-explanatory, the acting isn’t too bad. Mads Mikkelsen makes a great villain and Shia goes all in. James Buckley and Rupert Grint crack a few jokes and other infrequent dark humour is present.

The action scenes are exhilarating- slow motion accompanied with bass heavy clubbing tracks is weirdly euphoric, like a dream (as is the theme of the movie). One scene in particular is very memorable but not worth watching the whole movie for.

A mildly entertaining film with a fantastic soundtrack.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10
