My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!
ROUND 1 – Most encouraging/ best moment in the Rogue One trailer?
My thoughts on the Rogue One trailer are well documented here, but I’d have to say the All Terrain Armoured Transport or AT-AT Walker would be my favourite visual. Donnie Yen is a close runner up. Audibly, I’d go with the soundtrack, followed by Whitaker’s voice over.
ROUND 2 – What standalone Star Wars Story do you want to see next?
The Force Unleashed, adapted for the screen as a dark epic. There is filler that can be removed, there is humour that can be expanded upon. The cast compromises of returning favourites such as Palpatine and Vader whilst introducing interesting new characters.
Vader’s secret apprentice has a storyline that is so hugely impactful to the common known lore of Star Wars that it would be wasteful to not reintroduce it as canon.
Or just a Darth Maul movie, either or.
ROUND 3 – What movie character would be the worst to have as your boss?
Palpatine. He lies and manipulates literally the whole galaxy into his command.
There was a strong argument for the Joker as, in The Dark Knight, he kills his companions when they complete their tasks.
ROUND 4 – What’s the Best Spielberg movie released after the year 2000?
I haven’t seen many of them but Tintin is adventurous fun and often wrongly overlooked.
ROUND 5 – What’s the best after credits scene in a movie?
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off I’d go with; it was simple, funny and popularised the after credit scene. Many people don’t realise that a big film that came out recently was actually referencing this in its own post credits scene.
Amongst the Marvel films, I would say Iron Man. Watching it again all these years later is great, knowing how awesome The Avengers become and how expansive the MCU gets.
