My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!
ROUND 1 – Worst MCU villain to date?
Thor: The Dark World. Yeah that villain… what was his name?
ROUND 2 – Pitch a Space Jam sequel where another franchise would cross over.
I haven’t seen Space Jam but the Back to the Future pitch sounded fun.
ROUND 3 – What movie character would be most fun to get drunk with?
Deadpool, Archer (from the TV show, bending the rules) or the End of Watch duo.
ROUND 4 – Pick a title, and 2 names from out of the hat, then pitch a movie starring those two actors.
Feel free to give me a random title and 2 names in the comments!
Thanks to Movie Reviews 101 for the suggestions: Keanu Reeves and Ryan Reynolds in Darkness Rising:
This is a slow burn horror film. Keanu Reeves and Ryan Reynolds are vampires. Keanu leads a secret cult that meet monthly to feed off of kidnapped humans. The film is literally very dark as the vampires are irritated by light. All speech is slow and most words are emphasised. The feeding is ritualistic, bloody.
Reynolds character plays the ambitious young cousin to Keanu’s heartless leader, who has just migrated from elsewhere. He desires a greater portion of feed for all his companions. He believes the vampires are stronger than the humans and, given more vampires come out of hiding around the world, the humans could be subdued into being simply farmed food.
The comparisons between the dominant species at any given time on the planet are explored, such as dinosaurs then humans and now vampires. Humans being kept as livestock is a common sight and thought in the film
The final act comprises of a civil war between those who follow Keanu choosing to secretly coexist and those that go on a bloodthirsty rampage in the streets with Reynolds. The climatic fight between the two ends in Keanu dying of his wounds at the hands of Reynolds, who is now maddened with new power and strength from increased feeding.
The film ends with vampires openly attacking human with more vampires revealing themselves globally. The end is ambiguous, but a path toward a semi apocalypse is implied.
Nicolas Winding Refn to direct, having just come off of a horror/thriller with Keanu and being able to depict bloody violence stylishly.
ROUND 5 – Best movie to Netflix and Chill to?
Mr. and Mrs. Smith! or binge Friends.
