SJMF: My Picks – Pitch The 1990s Avengers!

My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!

ROUND 1 – Pitch Marvel’s The Avengers if it was cast in the 1990s

In the comments of the video I found a list that I don’t think can be topped. Joel West-Ward on YouTube says:

“Captain America: Brad Pitt
Iron Man: George Clooney
Thor: Dolph Lundgren
Bruce Banner/Hulk: Tom Hanks
Black Widow: Uma Thurman
Hawkeye: Gary Sinise
Nick Fury: Why not just stick with Samuel L. Jackson?

The Punisher: Michael Biehn
Daredevil: Edward Norton
Spiderman: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Ant-Man: Tim Roth
Wasp: Gillian Anderson
Black Panther: Don Cheadle
Falcon: Will Smith
Captain Marvel: Jennifer Aniston
War Machine: Denzel Washington”

ROUND 2 – Pitch a fast food franchise as a movie franchise

KFC and the story of Colonel Harland David Sanders.

The story of a man selling chicken on the road side during the great depression and how this led to him receiving the highest award from his state and being immortalised by his own franchise.

A Review of Triple 9 (2016)

“Out here, there is no good and there is no bad. To survive out here, you’ve got to out monster the monster.”

Triple 9 is part Departed, part Heat, part David Ayer and part Payday with a hint of The Town.

A tale of robberies and dirty cops, Triple 9 is an extremely audacious film.

Your Fight – The Getaway

Welcome to the first in a new series titled Your Fight in which you debate and role play how your character would achieve the given objective in the comments below!

To play, just read the scenario and comment below!

The Scenario:

Inspired by Triple 9.

A bank heist, almost successful. In the process of getting away, you hit another car, totalling your own. You and your crew get out of the vehicle, with the dufflebag of money still in the back.

It’s midday, hot and busy. You’re on a highway exit. Sirens can already be heard a few blocks away.

The Objective: Get away from the cops with as much money as possible.

SJMF: My Picks – Who Should Join Black Panther?

My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!

ROUND 1 – What is the best horror sequel ever?

The question was with respect to, and now that I’ve seen it, my answer is The Conjuring 2.

ROUND 2 – What Marvel character do you most want to show up in “Black Panther”?

Black Widow. Having her thrown around the MCU makes her like glue. She had great chemistry with Chadwick Boseman.

Also I don’t think she should have a standalone film- learning about her in other peoples tales gives the movies more depth.

E3 2016: Sony

Now that is an epic opening, to match their epic stage.

God of War 4 has a Skyrim feel to it. The applause on Kratos’s reveal was the loudest I’ve heard yet at E3 2016. The Norse re-imagining is fresh and it’s the most beautiful game I’ve seen this generation. The emotion was well written meaning overall we could be looking at a GOTY.

Daysgone had a neat enough CG trailer. So is it a open world RPG or a linear TPS? From the demo we see a good action horror hybrid. The zombie count was impressively high.

The Last Guardian is a myth come true. I’m happy to play anything tied to the amazing Shadow of the Colossus.

E3 2016: Ubisoft

That opening. Ew.

Also we bear in mind the Ubi downgrades of E3’s past as we analyse this years conference:

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is a game I’m very hopeful for. I wish it to be a cross between MGSV and Far Cry. The villains tattoos are crazy! The demo looked hugely fun but don’t ever put your perp next to the pilot…

Grow Up: Grow home was recommended by 100% of my reputable sources. So that’s good.

Trials of the Blood Dragon: Games that release instantly are awesome, it means zero hype and I’m hugely anti-hype. However this game is being received poorly…

E3 2016: PC Gaming Show

Powered by PC Gamer, I appreciate a conference at E3 dedicated to PC Gaming amongst all the console announcements.

Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is a huge game for me. Warband is one of my all time most played games- if I could have any game from E3 release today, it’d be this. It looks graphically beautiful, after playing the old game so much.

E3 2016: Microsoft

Their stage is the same as last year, it’s very sleek.

The music reminds me of the Dredd soundtrack. Anyway, Xbox One S, significantly smaller and an integrated power supply. Both are major improvements to the console as a whole, however the new controller features seem unimportant. Cross purchasing is awesome.

Gears of War 4 looks as cinematic as ever.

General Raam for Killer Instinct is perfect!

Forza Horizon 3 is genuinely my most anticipated game. Australia looks beautiful. Dubai next time perhaps? This seems the most ‘Motorstorm’ of the Horizon games thus far. Rest in peace, The Crew.
