The Best Films I’ve Never Seen

Inspired by emmakwall (do check out her awesome content), here are some films I haven’t seen but every other film buff has!

My terrible reasoning is I’m “saving” them for when I especially feel the desire to watch a 10/10 film or I missed the “moment” to watch it.

NO SPOILERS PLEASE, THANK YOU

SJMF: My Picks – Suicide Squad 2 Pitch is BvS Done Right!

My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!

ROUND 1 – Suicide Squad: Rotten or Fresh?

For a full review: Suicide Squad

Now if I had to pick rotten or fresh, even though I gave it a favourable overall rating, I’m going to say rotten.

It was enjoyable, very much so. Harley was perfect and a lot of the rest of the cast were fun, hence the high score in my review.

But, as a quality film, when measured against other films generally and other comic book films: Suicide Squad will forever infamously be one of those terrible plot line, bogus villain comic book films (Green Lantern, Fantastic Four, etc.).

Because it did not elevate itself above these tropes, I cannot give Suicide Squad a fresh recommendation. It’s a film for fans to enjoy but the moviegoer who wants something more nuanced should look else where (at Civil War perhaps).

ROUND 2 – Pitch “Suicide Squad 2”

Harley has broken up with the Joker due to abuse.

Joker is distraught and done with Gotham for a while, he moves to metropolis to cause havoc. He’s bored with Bats and wants to get away from Harley and their memories.

Joker’s shenanigans cause Lois Lane to be killed. When Kal-El hears this he loses part of his morality, as Lois was pregnant.

Superman goes half crazy and goes to Gotham to find Harley, possibly to kill her in revenge. The Suicide Squad band up to defend their crazy cheerleader.

Batman arrives later after having dealt with other villains. He is forced to take on the Joker however, who is trying to kill Superman to save Harley, whom he still loves dearly.

Eventually the chaos comes to a head with Superman being injured by Batman to prevent him from making rash decisions like killing Harley or Joker or the Suicide Squad. This leads to a final climatic battle, a rematch, between Superman and Batman.

This time however, the Suicide Squad breaks it up before they fatally wound each other.

The villains become heroes when the heroes become villains.

Harley and the Joker make up and leave together to live Harley’s dream life (as seen in Suicide Squad) until the next DC movie that requires them.

Amanda Waller disbands the Suicide Squad putting bounties on their heads for mass disturbance of the peace and destruction of property.

Superman leaves Earth, feeling nothing for the people anymore but anger. He goes to the ruined Krypton where he see’s remnants of his old civilisation. He becomes tranquil again and will return to Earth in the next DC film. (Much like Dr. Manhattan’s trip)

Batman becomes less violent, as he has witnessed what such reckless damage can do to even the best of people, namely Superman.

I think I just made a Man of Steel sequel, a suicide squad sequel and a better Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice film!  Continue reading “SJMF: My Picks – Suicide Squad 2 Pitch is BvS Done Right!”

SJMF: My Picks – Best of 2016 and Best talking animal!

My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!

ROUND 1 – What’s the best movie of 2016 so far?

Captain America: Civil War, easily. Followed by Zootropolis. And a bit of love for The Nice Guys. Finally, the merc with a mouth, Deadpool!

ROUND 2 – What is the most underrated superhero movie of the past decade?

Everyone says it’s boring! Watchmen (2009) that it.

I think it has great characters and a dark vibe that no other superhero film does. Rorschach, The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan etc.

SJMF: My Picks – Batgirl and Star Wars: Kingdom of Heaven

My picks for the battles fought in this episode of Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights!

ROUND 1 – Whats the Worst Part of Independence Day: Resurgence?

No intention of seeing this any time soon.

ROUND 2 – Cast a new actress and pitch a Batgirl movie.

Emma Stone as Barbara Gordon.

The training between the character and Batman. Has plenty of both masked and unmasked moments. Commissioner Gordon plays a big part (Cranston). More of a crime drama with a few major action scenes.
